Who are we?

Founded in 2003, Didcot Dragons is a friendly and welcoming korfball club based in Didcot, Oxfordshire. We emphasize the importance of having fun while training and competing. Whether you’re an experienced player or new to the sport, we’d love for you to join us!

Korfball is a mixed-gender team sport that blends elements of netball and basketball. It’s fast, strategic, and most importantly, enjoyable. With a strong focus on teamwork and inclusivity, Didcot Dragons is open to players of all abilities.

Join us

Do you want to give korfball a shot? No experience or even knowledge of korfball is necessary, and we’re always looking for new members! Just come along on a Tuesday evening in comfy sports gear with a bottle of water and say hi. We have beginners starting all the time so you will not be alone.

Training

We train every Tuesday throughout the year. During the league season (Sept-April) we train indoors, 8 – 10 pm, at Aureus School (entrance via Candytuft Way). In summer we make the most of the weather and train outdoors at Boundary Park, 7:30 pm – dusk.

Fees

Your first 3 sessions are completely free. After that, if you would like to join the club (we know you will!), membership is £21 per month. This covers training, membership of the OKA, all league-matches, and most tournaments.

Social events

At Didcot Dragons, we know that building friendships off the pitch is key to our club’s spirit. We organize a variety of social events throughout the year, which have included board game nights, laser combat, escape rooms, and summer BBQs. We like to gather for a chat in the pub after training sessions. Join us for fun and camaraderie—it’s all part of the Didcot Dragons experience!

Playing a match

Didcot Dragons is proud to have two teams competing in the Oxfordshire Korfball Association (OKA) league. Matches are so much fun to play and take place most Sundays, October – April at Greyfriars Catholic School, Oxford. As soon as you’d like, we’d love you to join our teams at matches. We try and give new players priority over match time. Korfball is a very friendly sport and you’ll often see players giving beginner opposition hints and tips on the pitch. Everyone is there to have fun even if we do want to win!

Getting kitted out

We recommend wearing good quality netball or basketball indoor shoes for added safety and support, as korfball involves high agility movement. If you’re interested in team kit, we place orders a couple of times a year, but purchasing it is not mandatory for participating in matches.
